Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the American Liver Foundation Texas Chapter. Our current volunteer opportunities are listed below and we invite you to contact us for more information! Thank you - we look forward to working with you in the community!
Run for a Reason (RFR) is a team that wins every time. Coordinated by the Texas Chapter of the American Liver Foundation, the team promotes awareness of liver disease and raises money to fund critical programs in research, education and advocacy. As an official charity of the Chevron Houston Marathon, runners compete in the Houston Marathon, sponsored by friends, family, colleagues and other contributors. Our team members span every walk of life and a wide range of athletic abilities. They are generous and dedicated individuals who act not just as fundraisers and athletes, but as ambassadors for the American Liver Foundation. Their hard work funds hope for children and adults afflicted with liver disease.
Volunteers are needed to help set up for the event, to register guests at the door, assist with the live and silent auctions, to serve as host/hostess during the event and for clean-up.
Volunteers are asked to set-up and staff booths at public health fairs, provide literature and information as needed to support continued outreach and education throughout the state of Texas. Volunteer may also speak on behalf of ALF when special presentations are requested from community organizations.
Committee members are needed for planning and improving our events each year. Event committees work to successfully plan all aspects of the event, including venue, pricing, timeline, auction procurement, event marketing, ticket sales, etc. Event Committees meet monthly starting several months prior to the event and then weekly starting 4 to 6 weeks prior to the event.
This committee will work closely with the Education, Fundraising, Recruitment and Strategice Planning committees. They will be responsoble for writing Public Service Announcements and Press Releases and then disseminating them to the TV, Radio Stations and Newspapers.
Fulfill and track material and information requests from individuals, hospitals, schools, businesses, churches and other organizations for information and educational resources like brochures, posters, stickers and pins. Coordinate with the national helpline to determine the information needed by each source. Opportunity may involve visiting health care professional offices 1-2 times a month.
Volunteers will focus on the Chapter's public relations, marketing, and communications efforts to increase awareness and advance the mission of the American Liver Foundation. Activities may include contacting local media, writing press releases, writing newsletter articles, event promotions, etc.
Assist with volunteer coordination, which may include maintenance of volunteer records, development of volunteer recognition programs, outreach to potential volunteers, day-of event volunteer coordination, volunteer orientation, etc.
The webmaster volunteer would update and maintain the ALF Texas Chapter website to keep it current and interesting. Finding new ways to utilize the website for communication with the community. Coordinate the development of ALF e-newsletter with Executive Director.
We are looking for an energetic "Office Volunteers", weekdays between 9:30 am to 5 pm, to assist with administrative duties.
